Trip #52: Heron's Head south

I was planning a short paddle to re-try the rudder I bought with the kayak.
I remember it not going well the first time(s), but could not remember why.
It is definitely a pain to set up. In the end I got it working properly but it would have been better had I set the peddles higher or closer to my feet. I had to really stretch my legs to push the peddle enough to turn the kayak.
The short kayak turned out to be s bit tougher, longer as the wind picked up quite a bit. I should definitely try to limit my kayaking to mornings.

Trip #51: Elkhorn Slough

I had read about Elkhorn Slough as a great kayaking place years back and for some reason I never got down there till today.
Regret.
This is a great place to kayak!
To start with it has very calm waters and so is a good place to take beginners.
More importantly, it has more sea otters then I have have seen anywhere else and that includes zoos.  They were everywhere!
On top of that there were plenty of harbor seals, pelicans, cormorants, and other wildlife.
I am going back soon!

Trip #50: Heron's Head

Went on my first solo kayak in a damn long time.
Beautiful day.
Went past one of the docks from which one of the competing yachts in today's America's Cup will be leaving.
Got tiresome toward the end as the kayak kept turning to the right. I could rarely paddle on t
he left side.

Trip #49: Sausalito

Had a short but enjoyable paddle with Tamae in Sausalito.
